New To Online Writing

As I write this post Christmas is slowly fading into evening and life is returning to a more calm, peaceful time. Hanging around 40 relatives for 4 to5 hours at once is insane! I hope all your wishes came true and the gifts you gave were well received. As the days and 2009 comes to an end I have special plans for all you who are new to online writing. After all writing is what gets viewers to scan your blogs, websites, and articles. You need to know how to string words together in a coherent fashion so people can make synapsis happen.

If you do a google search for "Wrinting" currently there is more than 343 million sites out there and just by a slight chance this may be one of them, I would hope. To all you people who are new to online writing this blog is here to ease your minds about how easy it is to put thoughts onto a blank screen easily. You have come to the write place if you are just starting out as an online writer. Writing is a skill as much as it is an art. You can learn this skill by simply doing it! It truly is an acquired abiblity. The more you do it, the better you become.

It's sort of scary thinking millions of people could potentially read your thoughts, but at the same time that's what makes writing such a interesting subject. There are people out there who can write very well and then there's the rest of us. As long as the rest of us write somebody is going to learn something and this is the ultimate goal.

To your flittering thoughts...

Words Mean Things

One of my manias in life is being able to stike a chord in someone by conveying a certain emotion with the right word. Writing is in a sense an art form just begging to be developed. The more you write, the more you realize how important it is you become at choosing the right words. You suddenly realize to communicate a meaning properly you can not just keep using the same words over and over again. Trying to find the exact meaning to express a circumstance, situation, event, or emotion can be frustratingly difficult. What we're trying to do here is create a subtle refinement of meaning. The overlapping shade of words is where passion meets the heart.

On another blog post this morning I read how the lack of passion in one's writing can make for a stale article not much less a stale writer. An invaluble tool to have next to you at all times when writing, is a thesaurus. Infact, this tool should be required when composing unless you're some kind of word guru. There are plenty of thesauri out there on the net. Any Google search will point you in the right direction. The resources for finding words on the internet is a plethoria! No, you will not find this word in a regular dictionary. Sometimes, I open my creative spelling dictionary to create a desired effect. Are you smiling yet, or confused?

Words are the interacting passions of life. They are sacred. Understanding how to use them decently can turn a bland writing, into a Picassoistic master piece. By all means, practice your art!

How To Research Effectively.

I remember when I wrote book reports in elementary school and even highschool. Research was either done in the school library our out of the World Book Encyclopedia! This was such fun because eventhough I never directly copied anything out of a resource book for my report there were plenty of select words to choose from and it actually took some time to write a report. You really had to learn something about the subject you were covering.

Today it's a different story with the advent of computers and the internet. The resource websites are abundant and you can find almost everything there is on any topic you want to research. The only warning I must include here is remember, this information is coming off the internet. This makes information highly susceptible to erroneous facts. It is in your best interest to confirm your source material and always footnote if neccessary.

Here's how to research effectively -

1: List of site resources - You can use these sites to gather your research.

2: Major and Minor Points - Find some articles and jot down 3-5 major and minor points about each topic or subject. There is no reason to over emphasize here unless you're doing a major research project where you need to get technical and indepth.

3: Confirm your facts - It's highly important not to skip this step. Confirming facts with two or three sources should be enough to assure you've gathered credible information. This definitely means you need to read from two or more different sources about the material your researching to obtain correct information.

4: Outline - Take the points of information you've gathered and arrange them as topics and subtopics. Creating an quick outline helps you stay organized and focused on what you are writing about.

5: Introduction and Conclusion - Two of the most important aspects of article writing and researching for an article is to include an introduction and conclusion in your article. Make sure to add these.

Gathering research for writng articles does not have to be a complicated, long, drawn out proceeedure. However, do not think a subject has to have a limited type of research. By all means explore to your hearts content. There is nothing wrong with eye witness accounts. It's even more suitable and intrestingt o read an article from an eye witness account. Seeing for youself can give you a unique perspective from which to write your articles. If you're going to do a food tasting it would be highly advisable to actually "Taste the food" before you write about how it taste.

Finding information to include in your articles is part of the article writing process. Article writing can be highly rewarding, quick, and easy using an organized, outline method.

Article summary Points -

1: Research and information is easy to find today on the internet.
2: List of site resources.
3: Jotting down major and minor points.
4: Confirm facts. Use two or three sources.
5: Outline for structure.
6: Include an introduction and conclusion in your article.
7: Eye witnessing or experiencing what you write about is more interesting and credible to readers.
8: Effective research is a vital part of the article process.

Just Keep Writing.

Ideas - What To Write about?

Generating ideas is one of the easiest aspects of writing, but for some reason people find it difficult. Here is a surefire way to get a topic to write about at any time it's called:

Word Association.

Because I'm writing about writing, I'll use this broad topic to break down, or "drill down" to subtopics. Here's how Word Association works. Pick a word and associate it to another.

WRITING
Author
Stories
Penmanship
Editing
Dictionary
Writing Utensils
Writing styles
Humour
Journalistic News
Human Interest
People
Relationships
Etc...

I made this list in less than 30 seconds because all I needed was to associate words to one another. Now if I want to I can pick one of these other toipics or use my original word to write about. I can also *"drill down" on the subtopics and base an article around this. So now I pick one of my words and ask myself some questions about it.

I'll stick with WRITING.

1: Who writes the best?
2: What skills do I need to be a good writer?
3: Who are some good writers?
4: How do I write and get my message concise and clear?
5: How is writing different than speaking?
6 How important is penmanship?
7: What are the best words to use when writing?
8: How do you find the right words to convey a message clearly?
9: Why do people write?
10 What are some good writing exercises?

Next, for the sake of prosperity I arrange those questions in what I think is the best order.

1: Why do people write?
Satisfaction/ Provide information/Passion/ Express themselves better.

2: How is writing different than speaking?
Less contractions/ less slang/More precise sentence structure/No pauses, body language, inflection, or sound.

3: What skills do I need to be a good writer?
Command of the language/ a satisfactory understanding of grammer and syntax/proficient editing skill. etc....

Now that you have a basis to write from it is only a matter of putting the answers together in sentences and paragraphs. I may start with an Introduction:

There are many reasons people write. Some write to provide information like news journalist, or scientist trying to explain a theory. Some write to express emotions. There is nothing like a good love letter, or sympathy card. Some get satifaction from writing because they feel they can express themselves better writng than speaking, etc...

So, you can clearly see this process is very succinct and to the point. This is a writing exercise which gives you an avenue so you can spend your time writing instead of agonizing about what to write. There are many ways to come up with ideas. There is never a lack of good concepts to
write about.

Below is a list of resources I discovered on the internet you can visit to find ideas.

1: Google
2: Yahoo News/Web Pulse
3: ehow
4: ruffle - Poular Searches
5: Blogger
6: News sites
7: You Tube
8: Squidoo
9: Writing Prompts
10: Keyword searches

Article Summery Points -
1: Ideas for writng
2: Word Associations
3: Drill down
4: Ask Questions
5: Answer Questions
6: Write sentences and Paragraphs
7: Write instead of thinking about what to write about.
8: Resources to find ideas.

* "drill down" is taking a word and associating it to the lowest common denominator - details.

To the Idea of Generation!

Writing Articles

An organized writing process can be very beneficial to getting ideas surmized in the most efficient manner possible. There are many ways to organize the structure of writing articles, but I have found one way which is simple, easy, and quick. This article process can help give you ideas, cut research time to a minumum, and produce a structured outlined article format.

7 minute article

Writing quality content is the key to producing information others seek especially on the internet. Blogs and forums are avenues for aspiring article writers to try their hand at authoring meaningful prose. Ideas are abundant, and with an article process one can effectively structure their writing in the most creative way possible.

In this blog I hope to give people ideas and information on writing in general which will focus for the most part on the article process and what it can produce.
